SEATED ROW MACHINE
How to Use a Seated Row Machine
1. Adjust the Seat:
Before you start, ensure the seat is adjusted to your height. The ideal position is when your chest is level with the machine's chest pad.
2. Choose Your Grip:
Most seated row machines come with a V-bar handle. However, some machines may offer multiple grip options. Choose a grip that feels comfortable and targets the desired muscles.
3. Set the Weight:
Start with a lighter weight to warm up and get a feel for the machine. You can increase the weight as you become more comfortable.
4. Sit Down and Position Yourself:
Sit down on the machine and place your feet on the provided footrests. Ensure your knees have a slight bend.
Lean forward slightly to grasp the handles.
Sit back, keeping your spine neutral and chest up, until your arms are fully extended in front of you.
5. Initiate the Row:
Engage your core and pull the handles towards your torso. Your elbows should travel close to your body and slightly behind you.
Squeeze your shoulder blades together at the end of the movement.
6. Return to Starting Position:
Slowly extend your arms back to the starting position, feeling a stretch in your back muscles.
7. Repeat:
Perform the desired number of repetitions, ensuring you maintain proper form throughout.
8. Finish Safely:
Once you've completed your set, carefully place the handles back in their starting position.
Stand up, adjust the weight if needed for your next set, or allow the next user to use the machine.
Tips:
Avoid using momentum to pull the weight. Focus on controlled movements.
Keep your spine neutral and avoid rounding your back.
Breathe in as you extend your arms and breathe out as you pull the handles towards you.
Safety Precautions:
Always start with a weight you can handle comfortably to avoid injury.
If you're new to the machine or unsure about your form, consider asking a gym staff member or personal trainer for guidance.
